This still works as long as you're not a complete idiot about it. If you answer every question with a spammy link, you're toast. If you only throw a link in there, say, every five answers or so, AND you are actually being helpful and...this is the important part...answering the person's question, they will let you slide. Yahoo answers is become smart , they will track your IP and ban you if they fine any suspicious activity.

Nice plug for Convert2Media, and getting organic (free) traffic is always nice if you can get it.
I also recommend video as a way to grab rankings. I was really impressed by the TrafficGeyser product.
Since you mentioned affiliate networks, I think MediaWhiz is great.
I’m biased though because I work there.
